‘You Woke Me Up’ by Andrew Bird
It’s only March & I am in Texas now, but today felt like Seattle summer. I’ve got my window open to feel the warm night air blow through the window & listen to the mixture of the whistling sound it makes as it hits the side of my building & the crickets whose song is carried on the wind. I’m realizing as I lay here that, like Dorothy, I’m no longer where I thought home was & things are going to be very different in my life now. This song fits well with that feeling for me. The soft plucking reminds me of tip-toeing, like Spring sneaking up on you after a long winter.
